Veeam Backup Documentation: Performing File Level Restores

Before you begin....

Ensure you have installed and configured the Veeam Backup Agent

This guide assumes that you are logged into the server or workstation that you intend to restore as an administrator

Step One:
On the server or workstation you wish to restore, click Start

Step Two:
Expand Veeam and then click File Level Restore

Step Three:
Select a Restore Point, then click Next >

Step Four:
Click Open

Step Five:
Browse for the file you wish to restore.

Step Six:
Right-click the file you wish to restore and select either Overwrite or Keep

! IMPORTANT !

Selecting Overwrite will replace any existing files with those taken from the backup. Proceed with caution.

Step Seven:
Allow some time for the file restore to complete.

You can click Show Details for more verbose information on the restore process.

Step Eight:
Once the restore is complete, confirm that the file was restored successfully.

In the below example, we have chosen the Keep restore method...

Here we can see that the original Example.txt file (pictured left) has been modified, with the RESTORED-Example.txt file (pictured right) retaining the original text.

Note: Your restore result may vary from the example above depending on the restore type chosen (Overwrite or Keep)
